Not hiking? Visit a Plantation house! (Landhuis)

San Juan, family home.

There used to be many Plantation houses on the island of Curaçao. Due to neglect, some have disappeared, are overgrown by shrubs and trees or have their walls still standing, but their roofs have gone.
Santa Catharina, ruin.

Nevertheless, there still are quite a few houses that have been restored. Some are family houses, some are galleries, some are museums, some are restaurants or offer bed&Breakfast.

If not going for a hike, visit to a plantation house. Here are the websites:

Plantation houses that can be visited are:

Landhuis Ascencion, every first Sunday of the month. Drinks, snacks, arts&crafts, music. From 11 am to 1 pm. Lots of hiking trails.

Landhuis Bloemhof. A gallery with a garden. Exhibitions in or around the house.

In the garden you'll find the Cathedral of Thorns, an art project by artist Herman van Bergen.

Landhuis Daniël, hotel and restaurant.

Landhuis Dokterstuin, restaurant.
Landhuis Habaai, gallery
with a wonderful Tea garden.

Landhuis Klein Santa Martha, restaurant and bed&breakfast, with wonderful views.

Landhuis Knip (in Dutch). Tulamuseum. Views all around.

Landhuis Savonet, a museum at the entrance of the national park Christoffelpark

Landhuis San Juan can not be visited, but there are hiking trails and several boca's (small bay) on the plantation. Also a great place for diving.

Landhuis Groot Santa Martha. Local crafts and history.
