Introduction - introductie

This blog is not a trail guide. It is about the beauty and the diversity of Curaçao.
There are dry months and wet months, days with wind or storm or no breeze at all.
Due to the weather conditions, you may find he trails to be very different from what our pictures show.

Most recent hikes are described in Dutch, the other entrees are in English. Our main object is to show the beauty of the island. We cannot always give exact directions of trail heads or ends.
Many trails tend to change. Also, the maintenance depends on
enthusiastic volunteers.

Important: never go hike alone! When visiting popular places like the Salt pans at Jan Kok, don't get out of your car unless other people are there. Leave money, cards and other valuables at the Hotel.
If you have no one to come with you, take a hiking tour with a guide. Please read the page with
tips and info
!
Do not touch the
Manzanilla tree or its leaves and apples. They are poisonous.
Enjoy Hiking Curaçao!

Trail guides.

Here some trail descriptions from the hiking-guide of Uniek Curaçao.
The guidebook is sold out.

The National Parks (Christoffel, Shete Boca, Boca Tabla) and Hofi Pastor have their own trail guides.

The following trail guides are from a while ago. The trails may have changed a bit, and there are many new trails.

Ascension has a choice of trails, they are marked well.
Hiking the Hato planes? Follow the North Coast all the way to Hato airport. Or coming from the airport, walk in the direction of San Pedro.
From San Pedro hike, following the coast line, to Ascencion. Or from Ascencion to San Pedro.

Going to the far North west, still along the coast, hike from Ascencion to Barber via Patrick - old stone breaking place. Or, again, from Barber to Ascencion.

Some trails along the South coast are not marked that well, but the views are just as spectacular.

San Juan - small entrance fee, park your car at the plantation house - has trails following the South coast.

A hike around the Jan Kok salt pans takes about two and a half hour. Flamingoes, Bullen Bay, pelicans and a turquoise sea. Ruins of plantation house Porto Mari and hills with a view. The trail is not marked. Starting at Jan Kok, you'll end the hike in Willibrordus. From there, walk back to Jan Kok on a paved road.

See for more trail the left side this page.
