Coral lava tuff.
Red earth.
* Starting at the San Pedro farm, where about you can park your car (ask!) - or you pay a fee and drive on to the HatoVlakte - you go to the East, where the caves are.
One of the caves.
* You can also walk to the West, in the direction of Ascencion. Some dogs will chase you, but they are just doing their job: they make you walk on, which you planned to do anyway. There is a dirt road, but you can also follow the coast line. You'll come to the "Plastic Bay". You may think that you can't go any further, but you can. Try to find the dirt road that leads to Ascencion. When you walk back, admire the smaller "bocas" (bays), the ever rolling waves, drift wood and plastic trash that comes in many colors and shapes.
Please wear good shoes (as you should always do), because the coral lava tuff is hard and sharp.
* There is another trail, which is hard to be found. Go west to Ascencion. After a few hundred meters, at the left side, there is a trail. It leads you up the slopes and offers beautiful views. The climbing is difficult because of the sharp surfice of lava / coral tuff, with lots of gaps.
